Promise City exists for all people and for all communities to experience the love of God in everything we do, revealing the heart of God to every person we encounter.

We at Promise City are compelled with a vision to help people discover God through the word and Holy Spirit, to help develop the believers’ gifts and callings, cultivate disciples with a christlike witness, and to deploy people in the great commission.

TOGETHER, WITH THE CHURCH OF ALL AGES,

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried.
And the third day, He rose again according to the Scriptures and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets.

We believe in one Holy Universal and Apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and we look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

FURTHERMORE, AS A LOCAL ASSEMBLY,

We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons––Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: co–eternal in being, co–eternal in nature, co–equal in power and glory – having the same attributes and perfections.

We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in its original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.

We believe humanity was originally created in God’s image, but being tempted by Satan, chose to sin, and rebel against God. As a result of this fallen condition, God’s image has been marred, and all men and women are born separated from God, and in need of salvation. Through personal repentance and faith in Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross, we are forgiven our sins, made anew by the Holy Spirit, and restored into fellowship with God.

We believe in God-Creator of all things, perfectly good and holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally everlasting. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity that creation may know Him and be in intimate fellowship with Him.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, came into the world that He might manifest God to men, fulfill prophecy, and become the Redeemer of a lost world. We believe He is head over all things, natural and supernatural. We believe Jesus is the head of the church, which is His body. In this role, as the Good Shepherd, Christ unceasingly intercedes and mediates on behalf of those in His flock.

We believe The Holy Spirit persuades persons to repent their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. Upon subsequent action, the Holy Spirit immediately dwells within every believer – who has pledged their allegiance to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit also inspires, illuminates, guides, equips, and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. Practically, this accomplished by living according to the Fruit of the Spirit and the expression of each one’s spiritual gifting.

We believe salvation involves the redemption of the whole person and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, who by His own blood, obtained eternal redemption for the believer. We believe salvation is a divine gift – a spiritual reality with social practicality. In its full lifespan (as both an event and a life-long process), salvation includes justification, regeneration, sanctification, and glorification. Additionally, we believe the Scriptures teach us that authentic believers will endure to the end – faithfully living out their salvation (in word and deed) in which they have graciously received.

We believe that the church, which is the body and espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism and organization consisting of only born–again persons (believers). The Church is both universal and local. The church fulfills its mission by celebrating the glory and goodness of God, cultivating personal growth in Christ, caring for one another in Christian community, and by communicating the gospel in word and action to the world. We believe the Lord Jesus has mandated two ordinances, (water) baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer.

We believe Jesus Christ will physically return to earth to establish His eternal kingdom. He will judge the world, reward the saints, and rule for all eternity. This is the blessed hope of the Church and its encouragement for perseverance in faith and ministry. Those who have been reborn in Christ will live with Him forever (e.g., Heaven). Those who have rejected Christ’s message will be eternally separated from Him (e.g., Hell).

We believe those who are in Christ are called to live on His behalf. We believe it is the Christian’s mandate to live as disciples and to disciple others – witnessing to those who yet know Him for themselves. We believe it is most natural for a Christian to be a regular, faithful, fully committed member of a local church. Christians are to live in a way that is honoring unto the Lord and faithful to the Bible’s teaching(s). Additionally, we believe Christians are to live sacrificially – with their time, efforts, and monies.

We believe a Christian’s sexual life is to be governed according to biblical standards. As a body of believers, we believe all sexual activities “outside” of the covenant of marriage is sinful and is to be avoided. Additionally, we believe any lustful attractions towards the same or opposite sex are both contrary to the word of God.

We believe, at the dawn of creation, God created the institution of marriage, as a covenant union between one man and one woman. This church recognizes no other definition, notion, concept, or idea of marriage other than the aforementioned definition.
